How Does Bosch 110 Series CRI2 Injector Work?

The Bosch 110 Series CRI2 Injector has a sophisticated design with many parts. But its working principle is relatively simple. The injector contains a solenoid valve and a magnet. The magnet is there to create electromagnetism. This solenoid valve is fed fuel via a fuel rail. It comes with a wiring connection that triggers it. When the starter motor switches on, the electromagnetic force arises.

This attracts the solenoid valve and it moves to open. The system contains an armature plate which also rises. The oil pressure is set to its optimal value. Thirdly, you must fit the seal that comes with the new valve.

Fitting the valve

Then you need to lubricate the new valve. Fit the valve inside the injector and then press on it. Then, put on the check nut and tighten it. Use a torque of about 32Nm to do so. Then you must do the air gap setting. You should put on a washer, and then the ball assembly. The ceramic ball has a diameter of 1.33mm. put the assembly in the setup. Set the air gap using the meter for depth.

Set it to zero and then measure the depth inside and in the cylinder. Note both values down and calculate the difference for the airgap. Add the ball sim to the sensor with a DIA in the range: 1.38-1.45mm. After adding the washer, add the solenoid valve spring. Do NOT press on it or tamper with it. Connect the sensor with the injector assembly now. Then we move to the bottom of the injector.

Adding the nozzle

Add the nozzle spring without a washer. Then add the guide followed by the quarter pins. Add the nozzle and tighten it. The spring force is higher in this area. Hence, you should grab it by its top when you’re tightening it. Put a torque of about 50Nm to it to make it tight. The 110 Series CRI2 Injector has officially been repaired. You can now test the injector to see how it performs under the current airgap.
